When you need someone to talk to NOW

On March 18, 2019 by Village Alien

I know how crazy life gets and how at times it may seem like there isn’t anyone that wants to hear what you want to say. Well, the kids always like watching you talk, but sometimes you need a conversation about more than fish shaped crackers. I would love to say that person could be me, but lets face it, I may not be online or having the best mental health day myself. One day I hope this site will have a great forum of people just like you, and me, that have been there and might just be online when you post. But if not, here is a list of people and organizations I know that helped me and others survive anxiety and everything not in the parenting books.

  • If you need someone NOW: The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides 24/7 free emotional support for those experiencing emotional distress or suicidal crisis. You can call or even chat from the website. Lifeline
  • If you need someone NOW: I know you may have went, whoa, I don’t need that much help when you saw bullet number one, but you may meet someone one day that does. In addition to a great lifeline, there are great resources allover the page you should checkout. There is even a link to help find a therapist which is great. I’m very thankful and grateful for therapy sessions. It’s nice to talk to someone who is always on your side.
  • If you want to find a therapist: You will also find lots of information that will let you feel like you can put words to how you are feeling. There is nothing worse that feeling alone with anxiety other than not knowing that anxiety is what is causing you to feel that way in the first place. There are lots of search tools but here is one from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America
  • Just home with a new baby: Family Connects: For no charge they will send a nurse to your home for a follow up visit after baby comes home. I’m pretty sure these nurses saved me from the verge of a breakdown both times. They really took the time and listened, but you have to schedule the visit. https://www.ccfhnc.org/
